About the Project.
Welcome! I'm Nancy Choe, a resident of Altadena and faculty member in LMU’s Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Art Therapy program.
Like many, I’ve experienced deep emotional challenges after the fire. To better understand our shared psychological stressors, unmet needs, and emotional journey, I invite you to participate in a Research Survey and a PhotoStory Project. This is an independent, research-based project—not affiliated with any nonprofit or funded organization.
Your voice and well-being matter.
Your story can inform mental health approaches after a fire disaster. Help highlight the real-life impact of the fire.

Were you impacted by the Fire?
Participate in one, two, or all three of the following:
1
1) An Anonymous Post-Fire Survey
This anonymous survey aims to better understand how people cope, what challenges they face, and what support they need during recovery.
Your responses will help guide mental health and well-being resources for those affected by fire disasters.
By sharing your experience, you can help shape recovery efforts for our community.

2) PhotoVoice: Your Photos & Stories
In the aftermath of the Fire, many of us turned to photos—some capturing devastation, others reflecting resilience, hope, and community.
Share your photos and a brief reflective caption about your experience. Your contributions will be part of an online gallery and an image-based qualitative research project exploring the hidden cost of recovery and how individuals make meaning out of a fire disaster.

3) Creative Wellness Workshop
Poetry + Art Making

Engaging in creative activity in a group has shown to reduce stress and facilitate personal growth and healing after a traumatic event.
Join this adult only, creative wellness workshop that uses narrative arts to help integrate difficult emotions. No experience required.
